Yumeng Chen: Characterization of a putative cytokinin transporter-Purine Permease (PUP) in Lotus japonicus

During her studies, Yumeng Chen researched the functional identification of a putative cytokinin transporter-Purine Permease (PUP) in Lotus japonicus. One of the 16 LjPUPs was selected to be the main object in this study. Yumeng Chen studied how does this LjPUP-LjPUP1 transport active cytokinin and how does the variable cytokinin sink regulated by LjPUP1 influence nodule organogenesis in L. japonicus.

The new research findings contribute to the further understanding of regulatory mechanism of cytokinin transport in maintaining cytokinin homeostasis in plant development.

The PhD degree was completed at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
