Ernst-Martin Füchtbauer elected to the Board of Directors of an international organization

Ernst-Martin Füchtbauer has been elected as member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Transgenic Technologies. It is not possible to run for this honourable appointment yourself.

[Translate to English:] Bioøkonomien, der baserer sig på biologiske frem for fossile råvarer, er en væsentlig del af den cirkulære økonomi, og her står Aarhus Universitet særligt stærkt gennem forskningsmæssige styrker på Science and Technology. Derfor etableres nu Center for Cirkulær Bioøkonomi, der har det klare mål at sikre synergi og tværfaglige projekter indenfor forskningen på området, samt at styrke samarbejdet med nationale og internationale virksomheder og organisationer inden for den biobaserede økonomi.
En forudsætning for den biobaserede økonomi er, at der udvikles bioraffineringsteknologier og produktionssystemer, som er bæredygtige i både økonomisk og miljømæssig betydning.
Samlet set skal aktiviteterne i det nye center medvirke til, at der etableres nye virksomheder og forretningsområder inden for den biobaserede økonomi, herunder til at producere og markedsføre nyt dansk protein til både husdyr og fødevareproduktion.
Aarhus Universitet råder over unikke faciliteter til dyrkning af biomasse på land og i havet. Mulighederne er mange, og der er eksempelvis allerede stor vækst og eksport inden for bioenergiteknologi og muligheder for at udbygge med teknologi til udnyttelse af f.eks. græs, kløver, alger og muslinger.

Aarhus University inaugurates the Center for Circular Bioeconomics

New professor is an expert in improving the value and quality of crop plants

Henrik Brinch-Pedersen has been appointed Professor MSO to carry out research in cultured plants using biotechnology, molecular biology and genetics at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, from 1 May 2017.

Garden and potted plants with white spots on their leaves are so popular that they are specially selected for this feature. An international research team has now identified a new mutation in the plant Lotus japonicus which gives leaves with white spots.
