Anders Jahre Prize

Anders Jahre's Awards for Medical Research honor research of outstanding quality in basic and clinical medicine. The prizes are awarded by the University of Oslo and are among the largest within Nordic biomedical research.

The prize is awarded by the University of Oslo after nomination by a committee appointed by the University.

  • The Anders Jahre Senior Medical Prize. The award includes a grant of NOK 1,000,000.
  • The Anders Jahre Prize for Young Scientists. The award includes a grant of NOK 400,000.

Professor Poul Nissen was awarded the Anders Jahres medical prize for young researchers. The prize is worth DKK 400,000 kroner. This prize and the main prize of DKK 1,000,000 are called the "little Nobel" among the physicians and is one of the most prestigious awards in medical research in the Nordic countries.

Poul Nissen has been awarded the prize for his work with "the determination of the structure of important cell proteins related to protein synthesis and membrane transport".
