Infection, inflammation, and immunity seminar: Leo James: Innate immune responses to viral infections

The research in Leo James’ laboratory is centered around understanding how cells exert antimicrobial activities in the intracellular environment. His laboratory has recently demonstrated that antibodies and complement factors, which are classically believed to act exclusively in the extracellular environment, play central roles in mediating antiviral defense in the intracellular space (McEwan et al, Nature Immunology, 2013; Tam et al, Science, 2014). This new concept in immunity, along with new unpublished data, will be presented at the talk.
