Peter Andreasen awarded visiting professorship in China

Professor Peter Andreasen, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, is awarded a "Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012".

Peter Andreasen was awarded this prestigious professorship in recognition of his great expertise in research on proteases and cancer. The professorship includes a commitment to two months of research and teaching in China, specifically at Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Fuzhou.

In addition, the award of the professorship will make it possible for Peter Andreasen to strengthen the excellent collaboration that he and his research group already have with Professor Mingdong Huang in Fuzhou.

Professor Huang and Professor Andreasen are joint heads of the Centre for Proteases and Cancer supported financially by the Danish National Research Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China to carry out research on  biochemical mechanisms of metastatic spread of malignant tumours. Besides Ming Dong Huang and Peter Andreasen, the centre includes several other Chinese (from Suzhou) and Danish researchers (from Aarhus and Copenhagen).

The Centre's grant runs from 2009-2014. The Centre's activities have so far resulted in more than 50 scientific publications in internationally recognised journals.
