Research

My research focus areas have evolved from the studies of bioactive milk proteins, especially the cytokine osteopontin, which is now the main research subject of my group. I work on several projects regarding basic scientific characterization of structure and function of milk proteins, as well as a number of more applied projects concerning industrial exploitation of milk proteins.

I’m especially interested in the posttranslational modifications of proteins and their influence on protein functionality in biological processes, such as cellular adhesion and binding via integrin-receptors, immunological responses, effects on bone and mineral homeostasis and many others.
