During his PhD studies, Steffen Sparvath researched the potential applications of RNA origami nanostructures, as nanodrugs or biosensors. RNA origami allows the creation of rationally designed RNA nanostructures that can be used to develop structural scaffolds and dynamic devices for both in vitro and in vivo applications. Steffen Sparvath studied different RNA design techniques, and his dissertation describes state-of-the-art advancements in structural RNA nanotechnology and development of functional RNA-based devices.

The new research findings contribute to the understanding of how RNA can be used as a building material to create complex RNA-based nanodevices for in vivo applications.

The PhD degree was completed at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
