Congratulations to Dr. Hannah Weber on Her Successful PhD Defence
Plant-PATH warmly congratulates Hannah Weber on the successful defence of her PhD thesis on 17 July 2026 at the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP), University of Tübingen, Germany.
Hannah is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Plant-PATH Director Professor Bjørn Panyella Pedersen. We are delighted to celebrate this important milestone with her and to see her continue her scientific journey as part of the Plant-PATH community.
Hannah’s doctoral thesis, Membrane Localization and Oligomerization of HIR2 and Its Role in Nanoscale Organization of Plasma Membrane Receptor-Like Kinases, contributes to our understanding of how membrane-associated proteins are organised and how this organisation influences signalling processes in plants. Hannah successfully defended her thesis with the highest possible distinction, receiving the grade summa cum laude.
The examination committee consisted of PD Dr. Birgit Kemmerling, Prof. Thorsten Nürnberger and Prof. Eric Kemen, all from the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology at the University of Tübingen, together with Assoc. Prof. Elwira Smakowska-Luzan from Wageningen University & Research.
Following the successful defence, Hannah celebrated with her sister, friends, colleagues from ZMBP and members of her former laboratory. Her former lab members had prepared a particularly memorable celebration, including a series of fun games involving Hannah and her former PI. They also created a special hat and a decorated cart in which her PI pulled Hannah around the courtyard, which was a fittingly joyful way to mark the end of her PhD journey.
