Postdoctoral Position in Integrative Structural Biology and Biophysics of Plant Hormone Transporters

The Plant-PATH Center of Excellence at Aarhus University invites applications for a 3-year postdoctoral position within Associate Professor Magnus Kjærgaard’s research group at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.

The project will focus on the integrative structural and biophysical characterization of dynamic plant hormone transporters, with an initial emphasis on PIN-family auxin transporters. A central aim of the project is to elucidate the role of the large intrinsically disordered regions of these membrane proteins and their involvement in protein–protein interactions and regulation. The research will combine experimental and computational approaches, including protein engineering, biochemical and biophysical characterization, and integrative structural biology methods such as NMR, SAXS, and single-molecule FRET. Depending on background and interests, the project may also involve protein structure prediction and computational protein design.

The successful candidate will join a young, international, and interdisciplinary research environment within Magnus Kjærgaard’s group, with access to newly renovated laboratory facilities and advanced biophysical infrastructure. Through the Plant-PATH Center of Excellence, the position is embedded in a strong collaborative network of leading research groups across Denmark, Belgium, and Germany, offering excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary training, exchange, and scientific collaboration.

The expected start date is 1 June 2026, and the position runs until 31 May 2029, with the possibility of extension.
Application deadline: 2 March 2026 (23:59 CET).
