Ebbe Toftgaard Poulsen: Corneal protein analysis provides insight into mechanisms involved in diseases of the cornea

During the course of his PhD studies, Ebbe Toftgaard Poulsen worked on mapping the proteins in healthy corneas – also known as the proteome. His analysis provides insight into the way the human cornea works. This knowledge is also an important step towards understanding the mechanisms that are affected by different diseases of the cornea.

Ebbe Toftgaard Poulsen studied mechanisms that are potentially involved in Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, a frequently occurring condition, as well as in granular and lattice dystrophies, which are less common.

The PhD degree was completed at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Centre (iNANO), Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
