Fariha Tanwir: Benzoxazinoids biosynthesis - transcriptional activities and chemical contents

Fariha Tanwir

During her studies, Fariha has worked on the biosynthesis of benzoxazinoids (secondary metabolites) in cereals, in particular rye and wheat. She has analyzed the transcriptional activities of the genes involved in benzoxazinoid biosynthesis during grain development and germination of mature grains. She has analyzed their chemical contents in different parts of mature grains and the effect of various food processing techniques on the benzoxazinoids.  Her work contributes novel insights into their biosynthesis and transformations in cereals.

The PhD degree was completed at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University (Flakkebjerg), Denmark.
