Michal Domanski: An optimized toolbox for capture of protein complexes

During his studies, Michal has developed a set of tools and approaches for the characterization of endogenous human complexes related to RNA metabolism. These new tools have facilitated an in-depth characterization of the RNA exosome interactome, revealing a hitherto unknown association with the 5’cap structure of RNAs. Additionaly, Michal has shown that assays previously restricted to recombinant proteins, can now be applied to protein complexes captured from an endognous source. The new findings contribute to our understanding of how gene expression is regulated at the postranscriptional level.
The PhD degree was completed at the Centre for mRNP Biogenesis and Metabolism, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University.
