Srdjan Gavrilovic: Understanding individual tissues in context of an organ

During his studies, Srdjan Gavrilovic established a method to analyze signalling dynamics of individual cell types in the model legume plant Lotus japonicus.

In his research, Srdjan used a set of molecular tools that allows access to cellular gene expression profiles with much greater resolution and precision than what currently used methods allow for.

In the course of this work a transgenic plant population was established that will enable the detailed study of biological processes in all major cell types of the plant root .This approach will provide a new level of insight in cell-type specific responses during plant development and interaction with other organisms, such as symbiosis.

The PhD degree was completed at the Centre for Carbohydrate Recognition and Signalling (CARB), Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
