Doctoral researcher Kaotar Elhazzime visits Plant-PATH
From 22 August to 10 September, doctoral researcher Kaotar Elhazzime from the University of Helsinki visited the Pedersen group at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University as part of the ongoing collaboration between the two research groups.
Kaotar studies how plants develop their stomata in response to their environment. During her visit to Plant-PATH, she worked closely with PhD student Kasper Andreasen Clowes on experiments designed to shed light on the structure and function of a transporter protein at the heart of her research. The visit gave Kaotar the opportunity to deepen her understanding of the protein while learning new approaches and techniques from Kasper and the wider Pedersen group.
“It has been an incredibly fun and rewarding experience working alongside them,” says Kaotar, who describes the visit as an opportunity to learn from both Kasper and the entire group.
For Kaotar, the visit also marked a particularly nice milestone in a collaboration that began at a conference just a year earlier:
“It feels like a special full-circle moment to think that I first met Bjørn and his lab members at a conference just a year ago, before we started collaborating. Now, a year later, I am working alongside them in their lab!”
Her visit provided an opportunity to combine expertise across the two groups while further strengthening the scientific collaboration between Plant-PATH and the University of Helsinki.
