Employee parking in the University City

In the University City, two parking areas are available to AU employees: Peter Sabroes Gade 8 and Peter Sabroes Gade 37. Read on for more information about these parking areas and the permits required to use them.

Parking permits for the University City: a temporary solution

  • AU employees will require a separate parking permit to park in the University City. This parking permit will be free (just like the current employee parking permit for the rest of Aarhus Campus) and will come into effect in the first quarter of 2026.
  • Until then, staff can use their current AU employee parking permit to park in the University City – in the two parking areas stated above.
  • This also applies to guest parking.
  • Staff will receive more information about the new parking permit (and how to apply for it) with sufficient notice before it comes into effect. Once the new parking permit comes into effect, staff will no longer be able to use the current employee parking permit to park in the University City.

Parking areas in the University City

  • The two new parking areas consist of 303 spaces:
    • The parking garage at Peter Sabroes Gade 8: 203 spaces
      • An electronic sign at the entrance shows the number of available spaces in the garage - AU employees are allowed to park in any free space.
    • The underground car park at Peter Sabroes Gade 37: 100 spaces
      • The AU spaces are at the back of the underground car park in the blue AU zone.

Other AU parking areas

  • Parking rules for AU employees on the rest of Aarhus Campus, including the University Park, Nobel Park and Tåsingegade, remain unchanged. See employee parking areas.
  • Students may not use parking spaces intended for employees. The university recommends that students use public transport or the public parking areas on Aarhus Campus.
