To deepen our understanding of plant hormone permeation across membranes, Plant-PATH PhD student Bjørn Lildal Amsinck, from Bjørn Panyella Pedersen's group, spent several weeks at the Coimbra Chemistry Centre in Portugal in October.

Here, he applied fluorescence-based stopped-flow and fluorometric assays to study hormone permiation at the molecular level. An experience that broadened our group’s perspective on plant biochemistry under the guidance of Professor Maria João Pedrosa Ferreira Moreno Silvestre and PhD student Margarida Machado Cordeiro. The visit also laid the foundation for a new collaboration with Professor Maria João Moreno's Biological Chemistry group.

Outside the lab, Bjørn joined local students in the Festa das Latas parade, gaining a glimpse of the Portuguese academic culture before returning to Denmark full of new perspectives, inspiration and wonderfull memories of a beautiful country.
