Three Master students join Plant-PATH!

Two familliar faces and a new master student have joined Plant-PATH this semester!

Igor, who is new to the Plant-PATH team, will join Lorena Zuzic from the Pedersen lab in performing molecular dynamics simulations of plant hormone transporters to assist in determining the transport mechanism of these proteins. Igor's work will complement the wet-lab research carried out across our centre, helping us better understand how hormones are transported in plants.

Metteline who completed her bachelor's project last semester, has returned to continue her work for the molecular biology project. Her work will focus on an amino acid transporter from Arabidopsis thaliana, which is essential for plant growth. This work will expand our knowledge of transportation of metabolites thorughout plants. In her own words:

I’m really excited to be back with the Plant-PATH group and build on the work from my bachelor thesis, continuing with the expression and purification of an amino acid transporter for my molecular biology project. 

Jacob has completed both his bachelor's and molecular biology project in the Pedersen lab and has now joined the team for his master's thesis, which will run over two semesters. His project will be about developing methods for succesfully expressing proteins that are difficult to produce, working together with Alex Snow.
