Professor and Plant-PATH Director Bjørn Panyella Pedersen has been elected to the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, recognising his scientific contributions and commitment to advancing fundamental research.
Plant-PATH Director and Professor Bjørn Panyella Pedersen has been elected to the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, a distinguished recognition awarded to researchers who have made significant contributions to their fields.
The Academy brings together leading scholars from across the sciences and humanities and serves as an important forum for advancing research, fostering dialogue across disciplines, and promoting the role of science in society. Through its activities, the Academy contributes to shaping the future of Danish research and strengthening connections between scientific communities.
For Bjørn, the membership offers an opportunity to engage with researchers from a broad range of disciplines and to contribute to initiatives that support and advance Danish science.
"For almost 300 years, the Academy has worked to strengthen Danish research for the benefit of society. There is plenty to take on, and I am very proud to have the opportunity to contribute," says Bjørn Panyella Pedersen.
The election places Bjørn among a distinguished group of scientists who have been associated with the Academy throughout its history. Past members have included some of the most influential figures in science, from Danish pioneers H.C. Ørsted and Niels Bohr to internationally renowned researchers such as Charles Darwin, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, and Albert Einstein.
At Plant-PATH, Bjørn leads research aimed at uncovering the molecular mechanisms that govern plant hormone transport and signalling. His election to the Academy reflects both his scientific achievements and his commitment to advancing fundamental research, which are precisely the values that lie at the heart of Plant-PATH and the Danish National Research Foundation's Centers of Excellence programme.
We congratulate Bjørn on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition.
