Plant-PATH at the 2025 EMBO Workshop on Plant Membrane Biology

The 2025 EMBO Workshop on Plant Membrane Biology took place in Helsingør, Denmark, and gathered an international community of researchers working on the structure, function, and dynamics of plant membranes. The meeting offered a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and discuss the most recent advances in membrane transport, signaling, and regulation — all of which are central themes for Plant-PATH, where understanding the role of hormone transport in shaping plant growth and development is at the core of our mission.

Plant-PATH was strongly represented at this year’s workshop. Members Bjørn Lildal Amsinck, Adriana Chrenková, and Camilla Andersen participated in the program, contributing to discussions and engaging with fellow researchers on emerging discoveries in the field. In addition, Center Director Bjørn Panyella Pedersen, who is an EMBO Young Investigator, was invited to give a keynote lecture in the session devoted to structural insights into membrane proteins. His talk highlighted recent progress from his group and set the stage for discussions on how high-resolution structural biology can illuminate the molecular mechanisms underpinning plant membrane transport processes.

The workshop also provided a platform for early-career researchers to present their work. Camilla Andersen delivered a highly engaging and accessible presentation of her research, capturing the interest of both specialists and a broader audience. Her ability to communicate complex science with clarity and enthusiasm was widely praised, and she was subsequently awarded the Best Poster Prize. This recognition not only reflects her talent and dedication, but also underscores the growing impact of Plant-PATH’s research within the international community.

By participating in the EMBO Workshop, Plant-PATH researchers strengthened their connections with colleagues worldwide and showcased the center’s contributions to advancing our understanding of plant membrane biology. The recognition received by Camilla Andersen and the keynote address by Bjørn Panyella Pedersen exemplify the high level of scientific excellence and visibility that Plant-PATH brings to the field.
