International recognition of Poul Nissen
Poul Nissen has been elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
EMBO members are elected solely on the basis of their excellence in research and as such, the selection as an EMBO member is a tribute to the key research they are carrying out within Europe. As a new member, they join the ranks of approximately 1200 of the leading researchers in Europe representing the full diversity of molecular biology disciplines. EMBO members provide invaluable input to the organisation.
EMBO looks to its members for suggestions or feedback on the organisation's activities and relies on its members for practical scientific input. EMBO members help referee applications for EMBO short-term and post-doctoral fellowships and also propose possible topics and organisers for EMBO practical courses and workshops. Members are also entitled to nominate candidates for EMBO membership, the EMBO Council and the EMBO Gold Medal and of course vote in the membership elections.
