Project Senior Researcher Jan Lassen from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University has been elected as a new vice-president of the Commission on Animal Genetics in the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP).

The commission deals with all questions regarding the genetic mechanisms underlying performance, phenotype and behaviour of farm animals, and all aspects of how these trait complexes can be modified through means of breeding.

- The commission is very good at raising its profile at the annual EAAP conference but my goal is to improve the prominence and level of activity between the conferences, says Jan Lassen, whose period as vice-president lasts three years from September 2015 to August 2018. He was elected from among four candidates and received over half of the votes.
