The Brotherhood of Veterans ("Våbenbrødreforeningen") for Aarhus and Surroundings erected this memorial stone on 31 May 1899, to honour the Cavalry Battle – a fight between Danish dragoons and Prussian hussars that took place on 31 May 1849, in the area between what is now Stjernepladsen and Riis Skov.
