My research focuses on the design and implementation of algorithms in bioinformatics, with particular emphasis on the analysis of sequential data and the comparison and construction of evolutionary relationships.
I develop and implement efficient algorithms to address fundamental problems in computational biology, aiming to improve our understanding of biological sequences and their evolutionary dynamics.
In addition to algorithmic development, I have also worked on integrating machine learning techniques into bioinformatics by designing novel algorithms with machine learning applications, with a particular focus on probabilistic models such as hidden Markov models and stochastic context-free grammars.
I have both designed novel algorithms for machine learning applications and applied established machine learning methods to develop robust predictive tools.
