Molecular principles of fertility

Using embryonic diapause to study reproductive success

Research

Fertility rates are globally declining. Curiously, species displaying embryonic diapause - the reversible pausing of pre-implantation embryos - as reproductive strategy have exceptionally high reproductive success rates. A competent embryo and receptive endometrium are essential for the establishment of pregnancy. In my lab, we use embryonic diapause as a model to help cracking the fertility code.
